Household Income Form (HIF) Program

The Household Income Form (HIF) is part of LAUSD's annual campaign to collect crucial information from students' families. Its primary purpose is to identify students who may be eligible for various state and federal programs. This identification directly influences your school's Title I ranking and Targeted Student Population (TSP) funding, which are vital for supporting school programs and increasing local school funding.

The HIF Dashboard is a key tool for principals and designated staff to track progress in the annual Household Income Form (HIF) campaign. Updated daily, it shows which students are marked as “HIF Missing” or “HIF Incomplete,” helping schools follow up with families to boost completion rates. Regular use of the dashboard supports timely submissions that are critical for securing federal and state funding for vital school programs.

The Parent Resources page on the Household Income Form (HIF) website helps families understand the purpose of the HIF and its role in securing vital funding for programs that support all students, such as classroom aides and after-school care. It provides clear instructions for submitting the form online at https://hif.lausd.net or by paper through a child’s school. The page also highlights the strict confidentiality of all information submitted and reassures families that all LAUSD students already receive free meals.

The School Resources page on the HIF website provides tools to help principals and school staff run a successful annual Household Income Form (HIF) campaign. It features the School Principal’s Toolkit, which includes ready-to-use resources such as parent letter templates, Blackboard Connect scripts, checklists, talking points, and FAQs to streamline outreach and maximize funding. The District will continue to expand this page with additional support materials, including trainings and video tutorials, to further assist schools.
